Building Smarter: How New Tech Trends Are Reshaping Construction

The construction industry isn’t what it was 20 years ago— like it or hate it, either way it’s here to stay. From AI-driven planning tools to drone site inspections and real-time field documentation apps like Procure and CompanyCam, modern technology is helping us build faster, safer, and with better precision than ever before. We need to be reachable and adaptable in this fast paced, tech advancement world and be leaning into these advancements to streamline communication, reduce waste, and boost overall quality and efficiency. Here are just a few advancements I’ve been leaning into as of late: • AI & Automation: From schedule forecasting to change order tracking, tools like Microsoft Power Automate are helping us take the busywork off our plates. • Digital Field Tools: Platforms like CompanyCam, Procore, and Bluebeam let our teams collaborate in real time with far less paper chaos. • Drones & 3D Modeling: For large sites or complex builds some of the larger GCs have drone surveys and 3D scans to give us a bird’s-eye view and doing AI detecting safety and quality control scans in real time. Tech isn’t replacing people — it’s empowering them. We’re still builders at heart, just with sharper tools in our belt.
